Okay, essay incoming.

Lets start at the beginning, first of all PC gaming is far from dead if you look at big title games such as but not limited to: Starcraft2, World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Warcraft3(Dota), Dota2(steam), League of Legends, HoN (i believe still has a large following I believe?), and many more I can’t think of off the top of my head. These games are the cornerstone for a huge market and a variety of gamers and genres.

The argument for console gaming is simply that it’s much more casual than many PC games, PC games are very difficult and take time to master which doesn’t cater to the ladder of the crowd buying such games. PC games mark the evolution and competitive spirit that games have come to be. Going home and turning on any TV even an old one is irrelevant because the system is simply all that matters which is what makes console gaming so huge because it’s much more affordable. High-grade PC’s don’t come cheap and in a crisis like we’re in we’ll see a lot more console play because people can’t just simply go out and buy the perfect PC.

The number of dedicated PC gamers is the real number that matters. Not the number of players playing these games, because we’re here to stay where as console gamers bounce from game to game which leads to faster releases of the same basic game and in turn sometimes makes or breaks the game. PC gaming is just simply not as easy but much more lucrative. The people playing PC games that are dedicated will be able to play almost any game and have a great understanding of what the common goal and outlook is, where as a console gamer simply wont. We’re much more versatile and remember a lot of PC gamers are apart of the number of console gamers too.

There is nothing wrong with playing on a console vs a PC, but like I said in a crisis it’s just much more affordable, it’s much easier to just hop on and play a simple casual game, and it’s much easier to play with all your friends in the same room with a console having split screens etc.. and it’s EXTREMELY easier to bring a small system you can put in a backpack around. Gamers have a lot of specifics they need such as but not limited to: Mouse, Keyboard, Tower, (Monitor usually) Good internet connection, and a router setup and ready to go, Headphones, plus hooking your computer up. It just becomes a hassle to play with all your friends on a daily basis. This also makes us superior players because we need such perfect setups to play at the level we want to. I can’t just turn on a computer and open the options menu and destroy everyone.

Another issue that comes with console gaming is that it is very cluttered with young kids who’s parents think that the being on the computer all day is evil yet sitting in front of a TV is somehow better?

To my last point, being professional or on a team, There is MUCH more money in PC gaming for one sheer reason, PC gamers are much more dedicated and love to watch their favorite players, a console gamer generally could give a crap about great players, they just want to play for a few hours to pass the time.

I think console gaming is fun but PC gaming will always remain superior in the dedication of fans/players, professionals, skill, games, and the versatility in general of using a mouse a keyboard and the options that are available on a PC.

PC gaming for life. 3 Love you hltv.org

There are hundreds of games that ask you to save the world/galaxy/universe, but precious few that put that epic mission in the context of the regular people that your efforts will effect. That’s part of why the new, extended “Save the Earth” trailer for Mass Effect 3 has me so excited about the game’s direction.

Sure, the trailer is packed with the requisite death-from-above explosions that look like they’re straight out of Independence Day. A lot of viewers will no doubt be thrilled by the hordes of zombie-like Reapers, swarming and attacking like a Left 4 Dead Boomer just went off in the area. I still think it’s hard to tell whether these pre-rendered, exquisitely shot battle sequences will be as powerful when translated to actual gameplay, however.

For me, the real heart of the trailer comes in the juxtaposition of a little girl playing with a toy spaceship and the real version of that ship being blown to smithereens. The look of bewilderment as that little girl’s eye reflects the massive floating ship that has come to utterly annihilate her adds an important, grounded connection to what could easily have just been another frenetic battle for the fate of the world.

Then again, the Mass Effect series has always been good at layering the macro-level, interstellar power struggle over a core of personality-driven stories and micro-level decisions. The split focus in this latest trailer has me hopeful that this tradition will continue when Mass Effect 3 comes out in just a few weeks.

Well that was fast.. Just a day after losing out to Fragmasters Toxic in the lower bracket final of Epic LAN, VYE have lost one of their key players.

The rumours had begun to spread days before the team made the trip to Uttoxeter that Chris “Bowzar” Bowey, their newest recruit who joined not long after being kicked by Team CRG, would be leaving. Apparently plans had been put in place where he would be rejoining his former team after the Epic LAN tournament, however they were thrown into turmoil after the group stages thanks to the teams excellent performance, beating FMToxic to top their group and almost guarantee a place in the upper bracket final.

The team made the advantage of the easier half of the bracket count and were the first to secure a spot in the upper bracket final and when they did the player began to hesitate on whether to make the move back. Thankfully for Team CRG and disappointingly for VYE they were knocked into the lower bracket and then out of the tournament by Rasta Xd and FMToxic respectively, finishing third place overall. This result seems to have rebuilt the path back to his former team and today they have announced his capture.

The player making way for Bowzar is the one who replaced him in the first place, Josh “mole” Rowley, who for one reason or another was unable to fit in with the team after just a couple of months at the helm. What lays in store for mole remains to be seen, for Team CRG they have a trip to Copenhagen to look forward to.

Ben ‘b3n’ Wood said the following to Cadred:

Well, here we are again, after i43 we felt to improve as a team we needed to change chris, he had problems with his pc and internet which was causing us not to be able to practice. We then made the hard decision to remove chris and bring in mole which at the time seemed the best option. Josh is probably one of the best players in the uk scene at the moment and can offer a team alot, sadly, it wasn’t to be with us. We decided around a week ago we wanted chris back into the team and go back to our roots, and after Chris’s performance where he was by far the best player for VYE at Epic.LAN and one of the best at the tournament. So chris is back home and now time to knuckle down. None of us have a bad word to say about Josh, a lovely chap and as I said, a sick fragger – good luck in your next team! See you at Copenhagen!

Team CRG are now:

That’s right, Corsair are announcing the Vengeance Cup, similar to the one that they did for Call of Duty, but now for League of Legends! With 256 spaces available, and all participants welcome, sign up for your chance to win.

Corsair are really rolling out the welcome mat, as there is $10,000 up for grabs, including $6000 for the victor. The groupstages will have 4 teams per group, with the best two advancing to the elimination stage. All games in the groups will feature best of 1 format, and with 64 groups of 4 there’s plenty of chance for an upset. The bracket will be double elimination and will use the best of 3 tournaments. Because of the high amount of spaces up for grabs, the elimination stage will feature 128 teams, and will no doubt include some well known names.

In order to participate, you will simply need to have an EUW account, and a team of level 30 summoners. The tournament begins on the 12th of March, with the signups closing on the 6th before. Cadred will be covering the entire event, so stay tuned to see how it unveils, and who will be crowned victor of the Corsair Vengeance Cup!

Full details can be found here, and with only 3 weeks before the start date, be sure to sign up before there’s no space left!

After the fall of Team Reign, Inori was left without a team as one of the most solid free agent Protoss players out there. Finally, after several days of negotiating with TSL management, Inori has finally found a place he can now call home.

Yet another addition to a team going in with no LAN results, but a solid skill set. It seems as though as of late, teams have been picking up players to have a shot at going big, without having the confidence of LAN results, but the 2012 season will later prove if this is a good or bad move by each team’s management and staff. Although Inori says in the statement that he was a bit disappointed in JYP leaving TSL for Evil Geniuses, as they were very close friends, he agrees that it was the best move for him to execute and paid off in the end.

A mysterious individual, no doubt.
The statement from TSL goes on to say that despite not having massive results, they hope to see Inori prosper under the team’s name and hope to see future results at tournaments in the upcoming season. Whoever wrote the statement (as the translation is a bit murky at the moment until further details on the matter) also claims that Inori will move into the TSL house on March 23 of this year.
